Longer Lifetime Catalyst for Carbon Dioxide Hydrogenation

In collaboration with the Bernskoetter group at the University of Missouri, postdoc Dr. Justin Wedal, has synthesized a new pincer ligand with an additional hemilabile donor. When coordinated to iron, this ligand results in catalysts that are more stable for carbon dioxide hydrogenation to formate because binding of the hemilabile ligand inhibits catalyst decomposition.
